We Didn’t Bring the Boys….to Boston

We took a WICKED AWESOME trip to Boston for our Saints 2021 away game. We were super excited to not only be able to go to the Saints game but also catch a Red Sox game. We flew Delta and stayed at the Hilton Back Bay. Back Bay was a super nice neighborhood and it was in a great location for all the things we wanted to do. On Thursday night we checked in to our hotel then walked to a nearby restaurant & bar, Dillons. The vibe was so cool and the food was really good. We decided to hang out there while we waited for the rest of our friends to arrive.

On Friday morning, we hit the ground running. We had so much to see and do and not a lot of time to do it. We started with brunch (because that’s what we do on vacation) at The Friendly Toast. This has got to be a popular place because when we walked up the line was out the door (cue glances at me like I drug them somewhere they didn’t want to be). Luckily we were able to get on the list and pass the time at a nearby park. The wait wasn’t too long and the food made the wait absolutely worth it! Everyone loved it (cue thank you glances at me for finding this place)! After brunch we headed to the start point for our Boston Brew Tour by City Brew Tours. We visited Might Squirrel Brewing, Cambridge Brewing, Winter Hill Brewing, and Democracy Brewing on our tour. No complaints here, we love a good brew tour with our friends.  If I had to pick a favorite though, Mighty Squirrel was it. That night we headed to Fenway Park for the Red Sox/Yankees game. You could swear the guys thought we were in Disney World. We walked the entire stadium, bought all the merchandise, and sang Sweet Caroline at the top of our lungs. We could have happily went home after this game. We laughed, we cheered, we ate all the snacks. One of our friends (who shall not be named) wasn’t feeling to hot and decided to make a quick exit and head back to the hotel early. It wasn’t until the next day we learned that they didn’t make it to the exit, but instead puked right over the center field wall and onto the field. We laughed so hard when we found out the whole story. I’m still googling “fan puking over center field in Fenway” in hopes that someone got that on video.

On Saturday, we grabbed some coffee & some Blue Bikes and took a nice ride to Boston Common (the oldest park in America). We decided to do a walking tour of the Freedom Trail. It was super cool to finally be able to see all the things we learned about in American History class. The tour ended really close to the harbor, something else we wanted to see, so we kept on walking. We ended up spending the rest of the afternoon near the harbor. We ate lobster rolls on the waterfront (I can’t remember the restaurant). The girls split off to get ice cream and go shopping and the guys ended up at (you guessed it) a brewery. We met up with them at Trillium after our shopping adventures. It was a cool outdoor courtyard and the guys said this was the best beer yet of the trip.

Sunday was game day baby! We took a 45 minute Uber ride to Gillette Stadium that morning.  There was a cool little tailgating area with bars and restaurants that we hung out at before the game. The stadium was huge and I’m not sure how we snagged such awesome seats. I learned two things at this game. Being close to the action is what I need to keep my attention and Pats fans yelling in their angry Boston accents is kinda scary. But the Saints won so we left happy! We took the train back to the city from Gillette Stadium. It took longer than the Uber but it was free and it brought us very close to our hotel! (This train only runs on game day)

This was probably my favorite Saints trip so far! You can’t beat the weather in Boston and we checked so many bucket list items off in one weekend! If the Saints play the Patriots again, I’d be down to go back!

We Brought the Boys… to Houston, again!

We brought the boys to Houston for a quick little weekend getaway. This is our second documented trip to Houston with the kids but we’ve been quite a few times. This was also our first road trip without electronics since we took them away. We had to get creative to pass the time so we created a license plate game, made a snack box, and brought a few activity books! It was a much more pleasant drive than I anticipated!       Our first stop of the trip was The Woodlands for the boys first concert. We arrived at  The Westin , always my hotel of choice, and headed to the pool to pass the time until the concert that night. We got about an hour of swim time in before the sky fell out so we went inside and had a late lunch so the weather could pass. Around 5 we made the walk to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion to see Young the Giant and Cage the Elephant. The boys jam out to Young the Giant in Branden’s truck so I was excited to see their reaction to the band in person. They did not d

We Brought the Boys….to Winter Park

After going to Winter Park last spring break, my sister in law and brother in law extended an invitation for us to join them this year. We were a little hesitant at first to bring a 4 and 6 year old on the slopes but we decided we were up for the challenge!      We had a direct flight from New Orleans to Denver on Easter Sunday. While we hated to miss the holiday with our family, we lucked out with slim airport crowds!       We took a Home James shuttle from the airport to the resort! The shuttle was clean, the driver was friendly, and he even stopped to get us a good burger before we ventured out into the mountains. He dropped us off at our condo, Founder’s Pointe. All props go to my sister in law for finding this place when she came last year. It was the perfect location! You could walk to the busses to go into town and walk to the village and ski lift. She also had the great idea to get a floor level room so that we didn’t have to lug our gear up the stairs everyday. Way to g

We Didn’t Bring the Boys….to Wiscaaansin

Our 5th annual Saints trip is in the books and this year we went to Wisconsin (Wiscaaansin according to the locals). I can’t lie, I was not excited about this one. I just didn’t know what there would be to do in Wisconsin besides the game and I definitely come on these football trips for the Saturdays. The day we usually go exploring a new city. When searching for an AirBnB, I came across a description that said the location was perfect for a day trip to Door County. Once I looked into Door County, my excitement level changed.      We flew into Milwaukee because it was hundreds of dollars cheaper than flying into Green Bay. Luckily, our friends flew in the night before and picked us up in their rental car to make the drive together to Green Bay. It was a pretty drive, lots of open hills and farms. The best part, real fall colors! I didn’t know seeing red and yellow leaves could make me so excited. After a nearly two hour drive and a stop to get groceries, we made it to the most perfe
