We Didn’t Bring the Boys….to Scottsdale

One of the perks of having a husband who loves the SAINTS and football is that he would go anywhere if it involved going to a game. Another perk is a group of friends who equally love football as much as he does. So here we are, year number 4, where we pick a trip based off of the Saints away schedule. This year, we took a trip to the desert! Scottsdale, AZ to be exact!

Our flight landed a little later than some friends of ours and lucky for me they had already scoped out the first place we needed to visit, Wine Girl. The guys sat this one out, too girly for their football trip. We had sangria flights and a charcuterie board as we sat and chatted in the cutest little spot! We could have spent the whole time taking pictures! Props to Kelly and Aubrey on this find! After wine girl we began our walk down to The Scott Resort where we had massages scheduled while the guys headed to Phoenix for the football game. After our massages we did some shopping and had dinner at Diego Pops where we got to watch the game on TV. This day was what my lady dreams are made of; wine, massages, shopping, and Mexican food! The Saints lost though, if you were wondering.

Day 2 started with a good coffee, as all days should, from The Breakfast Club. We had planned on an adventurous day but did not realize we would Uber 45 minutes to the middle of the desert for that adventure. We found ourselves in Goldfield, a ghost town right on the edge of the Goldfield mountains. We explored the mine, the town, and found a new love of prickly pear margaritas. The second half of our day was going to be spent riding horses through the desert hills but first we needed to find the stables. We followed Matt despite warning from his wife, and got lost. Luckily I have a husband who will spark up a conversation with anyone, and found a guy digging a ditch who happened to be the brother of the guy who owned the stables (crazy right). He got us where we needed to be and we enjoyed our ride, although my horse liked to snack every 5 minutes and Brant’s horse was the only female and therefore did not cooperate. We met the man who I’m pretty sure found The Lost Dutchman Mine and he showed us his crazy collections of dinosaur bones and gemstones. An adventure we surly had!

Our last day we decided to check something off our bucket list with a sunrise hot air balloon ride. Was I nervous? Absolutely! Was it worth it? Absolutely! I really have no words other than I’ve never felt more afraid but calm at the same time. We were done early enough that it was still breakfast time and we were set on trying the coffee flight from JOJO Coffeehouse! If you are a fan of coffee, this is a must. The rest of the day was spent hopping from bar to brewery the best way we know how, on BIRD scooters. Branden and Reno turn into ten year olds and think they can jump anything. We played credit card roulette at each bar to see who would pay. We thought we were going to get lucky, until our card was pulled for the last and most expensive tab! Lucky for Randy, he never had to pay. Don’t worry bud, you can get us next time.

We have such a great time with our friends on these trips. Now we wait until the 2023 Saints schedule is released!

We Brought the Boys… to Houston, again!

We brought the boys to Houston for a quick little weekend getaway. This is our second documented trip to Houston with the kids but we’ve been quite a few times. This was also our first road trip without electronics since we took them away. We had to get creative to pass the time so we created a license plate game, made a snack box, and brought a few activity books! It was a much more pleasant drive than I anticipated!       Our first stop of the trip was The Woodlands for the boys first concert. We arrived at  The Westin , always my hotel of choice, and headed to the pool to pass the time until the concert that night. We got about an hour of swim time in before the sky fell out so we went inside and had a late lunch so the weather could pass. Around 5 we made the walk to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion to see Young the Giant and Cage the Elephant. The boys jam out to Young the Giant in Branden’s truck so I was excited to see their reaction to the band in person. They did not d

We Brought the Boys….to Winter Park

After going to Winter Park last spring break, my sister in law and brother in law extended an invitation for us to join them this year. We were a little hesitant at first to bring a 4 and 6 year old on the slopes but we decided we were up for the challenge!      We had a direct flight from New Orleans to Denver on Easter Sunday. While we hated to miss the holiday with our family, we lucked out with slim airport crowds!       We took a Home James shuttle from the airport to the resort! The shuttle was clean, the driver was friendly, and he even stopped to get us a good burger before we ventured out into the mountains. He dropped us off at our condo, Founder’s Pointe. All props go to my sister in law for finding this place when she came last year. It was the perfect location! You could walk to the busses to go into town and walk to the village and ski lift. She also had the great idea to get a floor level room so that we didn’t have to lug our gear up the stairs everyday. Way to g

We Didn’t Bring the Boys….to Wiscaaansin

Our 5th annual Saints trip is in the books and this year we went to Wisconsin (Wiscaaansin according to the locals). I can’t lie, I was not excited about this one. I just didn’t know what there would be to do in Wisconsin besides the game and I definitely come on these football trips for the Saturdays. The day we usually go exploring a new city. When searching for an AirBnB, I came across a description that said the location was perfect for a day trip to Door County. Once I looked into Door County, my excitement level changed.      We flew into Milwaukee because it was hundreds of dollars cheaper than flying into Green Bay. Luckily, our friends flew in the night before and picked us up in their rental car to make the drive together to Green Bay. It was a pretty drive, lots of open hills and farms. The best part, real fall colors! I didn’t know seeing red and yellow leaves could make me so excited. After a nearly two hour drive and a stop to get groceries, we made it to the most perfe
