We Brought the Boys.....to Gulf Shores for Christmas!

A month or two ago I overheard the boys talking about Christmas. Baylor asked, "What do you think mom and dad will get us for Christmas?" and Brooks said "Presents don't matter Baylor, we are probably going to do something together as a family!". It stopped me in my tracks. I was so excited to hear that he is beginning to see the value in our Christmas tradition.  This Christmas, we decided on a trip down to Gulf Shores. We let them open a new swimsuit and a fishing shirt and had them guess where we were going. They were right on the money.       Thursday was a travel day mostly. We left around 11 that morning and stopped for groceries when we got close to the condo. We were able to find a super cute  AirBnB  on the beach for a reasonable price, perks of going in the off season! After unpacking, we cooked dinner, took a walk on the beach, and played some light up frisbee thanks to Nana and her awesome Christmas gifts!       F...

We Didn't Bring the Boys...to Bay St. Louis

I've been long overdue for a blog post, and frankly long overdue for a vacation. This fall has been crazy with work, work trips, and baseball for the boys. We passed on our annual Saints trip this fall due to how busy we were, but decided we needed a weekend away. In fact, a whole group of our friends decided they all needed a weekend away too, so we went to planning. We decided on Bay St. Louis and found the cutest Air BnB  The Salty Bungalow      We headed out on Friday with no plans. We knew we'd have to get lunch and waste some time until our 4:00 check in. We had a friend tell us about a lunch spot called Jet A Way Cafe that overlooks the runway of the Stennis Airport(the building is called Million Air). He said you could grab a bite to eat and watch the planes take off and land and my airplane loving husband was in. I was a little skeptical at first, because it had serious school cafeteria vibes. But to my surprise the food was really good,...

We Brought the Boys… to Houston, again!

We brought the boys to Houston for a quick little weekend getaway. This is our second documented trip to Houston with the kids but we’ve been quite a few times. This was also our first road trip without electronics since we took them away. We had to get creative to pass the time so we created a license plate game, made a snack box, and brought a few activity books! It was a much more pleasant drive than I anticipated!       Our first stop of the trip was The Woodlands for the boys first concert. We arrived at  The Westin , always my hotel of choice, and headed to the pool to pass the time until the concert that night. We got about an hour of swim time in before the sky fell out so we went inside and had a late lunch so the weather could pass. Around 5 we made the walk to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion to see Young the Giant and Cage the Elephant. The boys jam out to Young the Giant in Branden’s truck so I was excited to see their reaction to ...

We Didn’t Bring the Boys….to Wiscaaansin

Our 5th annual Saints trip is in the books and this year we went to Wisconsin (Wiscaaansin according to the locals). I can’t lie, I was not excited about this one. I just didn’t know what there would be to do in Wisconsin besides the game and I definitely come on these football trips for the Saturdays. The day we usually go exploring a new city. When searching for an AirBnB, I came across a description that said the location was perfect for a day trip to Door County. Once I looked into Door County, my excitement level changed.      We flew into Milwaukee because it was hundreds of dollars cheaper than flying into Green Bay. Luckily, our friends flew in the night before and picked us up in their rental car to make the drive together to Green Bay. It was a pretty drive, lots of open hills and farms. The best part, real fall colors! I didn’t know seeing red and yellow leaves could make me so excited. After a nearly two hour drive and a stop to get groceries,...
